White or red? What's your wine of choice? If the former, then the Sauvignon Blanc Experience Grand Tasting beckons. Steal away for an afternoon sans kids, and sample Sauvignon Blancs from more than 40 wineries around California, the United States, and the world. Participate in food/wine pairings and talk to winemakers, too. The event, which is for ages 21 and over, will be held on May 5, 1-4 p.m., at the Chacewater Winery & Olive Mill in Kelseyville. Admission is $55 plus service fees and may be purchased at sauvignonblancexperience.com/grand-tasting.

If red wine is more your scene, check out the Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Festival, May 18-20. Its Grand Tasting will be held on May 19, noon-4 p.m., at Camp Navarro in Navarro and will offer live music, wine/food pairings, and a silent and live auction, to benefit Anderson Valley Health Center. Admission is $150. To purchase tickets for the tasting or for the festival's other events, which include a reception, barbecue, and technical conference, go to avwines.com/pinot-noir-festival.
