Street Smart Art

Artists can transform the everyday into something special. At the annual Pastels on the Plaza, they turn pavement into paintings. Stroll along sidewalks decorated with images and then let internationally known reggae artist I-Taweh and other local performers, including the Uke-Tones and student dancers, entertain you. The free event, which will benefit the River Oak Charter School, will be held on May 19, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Alex Thomas Plaza in Ukiah. If you would like to sponsor a square pastel or be one of the artists that creates one, call Marla at 272-8710.
